A passion to make and make again

“My heart is moved by all I cannot save. So much has been destroyed, I have to cast my lot with those who age after age, perversely, with no extraordinary power, reconstitute the world. A passion to make, and make again where such un-making reigns.”

Love of inconsiderable things

“If you cling to Nature, to the simple in Nature, to the little things that hardly anyone sees, and that can so unexpectedly become big and beyond measuring; if you have this love of inconsiderable things and seek quite simply, as one who serves, to win the confidence of what seems poor; then everything will become easier, more coherent and somehow more conciliatory for you, not in your intellect, perhaps, which lags marvelling behind, but in your inmost consciousness, making and cognisance.”

Rainer Maria Rilke, from ‘Letters to a young poet’.

Portugal

Here are some photos of our trip to portugal. We went with Jess and Robbie, and had a tudo bom time. Surfing, painting, sizzling and supping. And we even just got our bags back from the airline (10 days late). All’s well that ends well. Bom dilly! (and now, with a few people shots for Mr Lavers - we think your daughter’s great).
